چکیده

Marcotted 'Persian' (Tahiti*) lime trees with severe magnesium deficiency were sprayed with magnesium nitrate at 3 concentrations (1.75, 3.50, and 5.25 pounds of MgO/100 gallons of water). Three applications were made between March and September, 1967. Most of the magne sium deficiency symptoms disappeared after 2 sprays. The trees were completely green after the third spray, regardless of the rates used. The control trees remained chlorotic. Treated trees remained green for about 18 months after the last spray when some magnesium deficiency symptoms began to appear on trees sprayed with the low rate (1.75 pounds MgO/100 gallons of water). The practical aspects of magnesium nitrate spray for control of magnesium deficiency are discussed with respect to rates and frequency of application, compatibility with other compounds, and effects of rainfall or sprinkler irrigation within a few days after application.

Magnesium Foliar Application and Phosphorien Soil Inoculation Positively Affect Pisum sativum L. Plants Grown on Sandy Calcareous Soil

The effects of soil inoculation with phosphoriencontaining phosphate-dissolving bacteria (PDB) and/or magnesium (Mg) foliar application at the rates of 0, 0.5 and 1mM on growth, green pod and seed yields, and chemical constituents of Pisum sativum L. grown on a sandy calcareous soil were investigated. Results indicated that PDB and/or Mg significantly increased shoot length, number of branches ...

Lime-Induced Chlorosis

Lime-induced iron chlorosis in citrus and avocado trees may be controlled by chelating agents, such as EDTA-ethylene-diaminetetraacetic acid. Chelating agents have the ability to form complex compounds with metal ions-iron, zinc, manganese, and magnesium-holding the metals in a soluble form in various degrees of tenacity. Iron is held most firmly and, for this reason, the prospects may be best ...

The Effectiveness of FeEDDHA Chelates in Mending and Preventing Iron Chlorosis in Soil-Grown Soybean Plants

1.1 Iron deficiency – The problem Iron (Fe) is an essential micronutrient for plants, humans and other animals. An adequate uptake of Fe is needed to ensure proper growth and development, as well as good health of organisms (Marschner, 1995; Vasconcelos and Grusak, 2007). When provided with insufficient quantities of Fe, organisms will suffer from Fe deficiency symptoms. Fe deficiency is a worl...

Endothelial cells and magnesium: implications in atherosclerosis.

There is no doubt that the functional and structural integrity of the endothelium is critical in maintaining vascular homoeostasis and in preventing atherosclerosis. In the light of epidemiological and experimental studies, magnesium deficiency is emerging as an inducer of endothelial dysfunction. In particular, data on the effects of low extracellular magnesium on cultured endothelial cells re...

Effect of magnesium on prevention of diabetic vessel complication (review article)

Introduction: Magnesium is the second intracellular and fourth common action in the body. Magnesium deficit has been described in patients with type I diabetes. Hypomagnesemia can also be the cause for some clinical diseases such as diabetes. Some researches showed that plasma magnesium level decreases after diabetes induction. Some research believed that magnesium deficiency is a risk factor f...
